Irish Dancing

So I was going to make a new blog for this but I think as this is such a big part of my life it needs a page dedicated to it.

I started Irish Dancing when I was about 7, I loved it I can't tell you how much I just knew as soon as I started that it was the dance for me, unfortunately circumstances changed our dance teacher had back problems and he shut the school and I was unable to get to another one, I regret never trying to get to another one and totally giving up on it but I was also growing up and high school was a big fixture and my parents were going through a messy divorce so I never got back to it

This is me dancing when I was younger I'm the one on the right!

Over the years I saw dance displays where I lived and of course watched Riverdance and Celtic Tiger etc over and over I knew I had to get back to doing it, it was something that made me happy, I looked into it and for years could never find a school close to home and before I started driving my mum would have to take me, it seemed like I would never find a school and I forgot the idea for a while then everything got very stressful when I was working in a particular job and I knew then if I didn't find a school and do Irish Dancing again I was going to become very depressed I had nothing much I enjoyed doing I hated work and I knew Dance would be what I needed.
I searched on the internet spoke to old friends and found a school in Milton Keynes I was able to get to, I emailed teh teacher Claire and a week later I was going to lessons again, I LOVED IT, omg it was exactly what I needed and i knew I had done what I needed. I have now been going back for a year and have learnt so much more. I've done beginniers I did this quite quick but I had had previous experience I've worked up to pre open and am learning more advanced dances its amazing, did I mention I love it!

I now take part in feis's and displays with the school, I even got my own solo dress :)

This is me now at a feis in my dress :)

I have made some amazing friends at the dance school and look forward to going every week, I have 2 lessons a week Tuesdays and Saturdays, I wish I could do more as the feeling I get when I dance is like nothing else and it makes me feel alive and happy, it made going into work more bearable, it makes dealing with day to day life more bearable and gives me something to look forward to twice a week and a focus when at home as I can practice my steps and dances and get carried away with it that I forget that somethings are not so perfect. I love listening to the music too people think this is weird I don't care I love it and it makes me happy which is the main thing.

This is most of the Mary Drake school at our class feis Sept' 2010
